Book Review: A Seperate Peace

By: John Knowles
This was a slow read and definitly not for the faint-hearted. The book is set in the 1940’s in the early stages of World War II. The book starts out as two young boys creating a club where the initiation is jumping off a tree into a creek. At one point the two boys decide to jump off together, holding hands, but before they jump one of the boys pushes the other to a tragic event. The author portrays the thoughts and feelings of the characters in a flowing way so as to seem that you are that character. Many of the decisons made in this book revolove around enlisting or debating the war. Overall I give this book:
3½ Stars
If you, as a reader, enjoy history and deep descriptive books then this is a good read.
** I have read this book in the past week.
